All of the restaurants in this guide are recognized or certified by Slow Food USA, the Surfrider Foundation and the Green Restaurant Association, which all prioritize extraordinary sustainability efforts.

A Taste of Italy at Primos Miami

Primos Miami  in Downtown Miami flaunts a Snail of Approval by Slow Food Miami and is a certified Surfrider Ocean Friendly restaurant thanks to its strong eco practices that include reducing food waste and prioritizing local ingredients. Perfect for a business lunch or night out, this Italian restaurant in DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay is lively yet casual. Begin your $60 Miami Spice dinner, served everyday, with choices like a spinach and pear salad or crispy calamari and zucchini, then move on to slow-roasted chicken or pan-seared branzino piccata. End on a sweet note with chocolate lava cake or expresso-soaked tiramisu. Primos will also serve lunch daily during Miami Spice.

Global Culinary Artistry at Sérêvène

Sérêvène, the signature restaurant at Hotel Greystone in South Beach, mingles Japanese cuisine with French techniques. A certified Surfrider Ocean Friendly restaurant, it’s focused on responsibly sourcing ingredients and upcycling. Dishes are often prepared tableside with dramatic flair, and the restaurant is ideal for a romantic date or a group/friends night out. Standout entrees from the $60 Miami Spice dinner menu, served every night except Tuesday and Wednesday, include a salmon Wellington with Ora king salmon wrapped in a flaky pastry, a flavor-packed Japanese green curry, and a lamb shank. Start your dinner with red beet tartare or avocado rolls, or pay an extra $10 for the tableside beef tartare, a favorite for its theatrical presentation. Look forward to desserts like boozy adult popsicles or the chocolate souffle.

Tropical Dreaming at Essensia

Nestled inside The Palms Hotel & Spa in Mid Beach, Essensia sets a high bar for mindfully sourced gourmet cuisine. The restaurant is a member of the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program and a longtime honoree of the Snail of Approval by Slow Food Miami thanks to its food waste-reduction practices and compost program. Its menu changes with the seasons, and most of the ingredients are locally sourced. With a dreamy tropical atmosphere, including an outdoor terrace that embraces its lush surroundings, Essensia is the backdrop for a date-night dinner or a relaxing lunch or brunch. For the $45 dinner, served Sunday-Thursday, or $60 dinner, served Friday and Saturday, start with salt-roasted beets mingled with Florida oranges. The $60 dinner starters are highlighted by Key West shrimp ceviche and grilled Florida sun shrimp. Then move on to entrees like a blackened yellowtail snapper or Florida eggplant parm. During Miami Spice, Essensia will also serve weekend brunch and weekday lunch.

Sophisticated Date Nights at Azabu Miami Beach

Diners are treated to modern Japanese dishes starring fresh and local ingredients at Azabu Miami Beach, located inside the Marriott Stanton South Beach hotel. The Surfrider Ocean Friendly-certified restaurant has eliminated single-use plastics and focuses on protecting our oceans. With a sophisticated, dimly-lit ambiance, it’s an ideal date-night restaurant that doesn’t feel stuffy. Enjoy $45 and $60 Miami Spice dinner menus, both available nightly, that begin with jalapeno hamachi, a Nagoya salad or sushi appetizers (they’re more-elevated on the pricier menu) before moving on to entrees such as steamed salmon with spicy aioli, vegan Japanese curry and panko-encrusted pork loin. You can also upgrade to a sashimi and nigiri platter or the miso black cod.

A Sushi Speakeasy at Blind Tiger

Blind Tiger in Aventura is a speakeasy-style Japanese restaurant tucked in the back of Reunion Ktchn Bar. The Surfrider Ocean Friendly-certified restaurant has an adventurous menu with Japanese delicacies bursting with flavors, and the chefs often break out the hand-held torch to blister dishes. For the $60 Miami Spice dinner, served every night, indulge in the chef’s selection of a 16-piece sushi roll or eight-piece nigiri plate along with appetizers ranging from tuna tataki to thinly sliced octopus. Blind Tiger is also offering its omakase experience for $80 during Miami Spice.

Modern Cuban Cuisine and Live Entertainment at Cafe La Trova

MICHELIN-recommended Cafe La Trova in Little Havana perfectly executes modern Cuban food in a lively space with live music and dancing for an only-in-Miami experience. The Green Restaurant Association-certified eatery sources most of its ingredients locally. For your $45 Miami Spice dinner, served Sunday-Thursday, you’ll want to dig into Chef Michelle Bernstein’s empanadas and croquetas stuffed with a variety of fillings then feast on a skirt steak ropa vieja, with rice, black beans and fried plantains, or the arroz con pollo (chicken with Bomba rice). A highlight of the evening will be desserts like Michy’s bread pudding with rum-soaked raisins and the flan.

Homestyle Asian Cuisine At 107 Taste

107 Taste Asian Restaurant in South Miami is all about homestyle Asian cooking. It keeps things sustainable with a compost program and food waste reduction practices, and the minimalist dining area feels very Zen. During Miami Spice, sample an array of fan favorites daily at lunch or dinner, such as shrimp with spicy mayo, blue crab rangoon, pork bone broth ramen, pork fried rice and General 107 chicken that’s both sweet and spicy.

Journey to Jamaica At Mangrove

For a taste of the Caribbean in Downtown Miami, Mangrove will transport you to Jamaica with its authentic food and tropical mood. The restaurant goes green by donating unused food, using paperless pay-at-the-table technology and offering sustainable carry-out containers. Its $60 dinner menu, served Tuesday-Thursday during Miami Spice, stars jerk chicken wings, sweet chili salmon with traditional rice and peas and sticky rum cake. With its intimate atmosphere, Mangrove is ideal for a dinner party or date night, and you’ll want to stay late for the speakeasy lounge and DJ.
