Miami is filled with fascinating and opulent historic gems dating back to the turn of the century that make for one-of-a-kind meetings and events facilities. Consider hosting your party, meeting or event at one of these stunning locations.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

Vizcaya was built in 1910 as the winter home of James Deering, modeled after Europe’s stunning Mediterranean villas. Today, it’s an accredited museum and National Historic Landmark with formal gardens and a breathtaking piazza overlooking Biscayne Bay. It’s an ideal venue for gala events and weddings with ample grounds. It’s one of the most popular venues in Miami, so be prepared to book well in advance.

While Vizcaya’s facilities are available for rentals both day and night, nighttime rentals are more common. The property is open to the public during the day, so they can only accommodate intimate events of no more than 50 people. Evening events can begin as early as 6:30 p.m. The space can accommodate 100 seated guests inside the Main House and 300 seated guests on the East Terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay.

Event planners should note that Vizcaya only provides the facilities and does not handle catering, entertainment, décor or rentals for events, but they can provide a preferred vendor list for such needs. There’s a 200-amp tie-in at the East Terrace and Garden Mound for bands and any other audio/visual equipment needs.

Curtiss Mansion

Curtiss Mansion in Miami Springs dates back to 1925 and was the home of famed aviator Glenn Curtiss. Built in a pueblo-mission architectural style, it’s a unique venue set on the expansive greenway of the Miami Springs Golf & Country Club. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 and an organization was established to preserve the home and Curtiss’s legacy. Today, it’s a popular event space for weddings, galas and meetings.

The two-story home boasts a 1,830-square-foot central courtyard, which can accommodate 150 to 200 people depending on the layout. The home is composed of five different rooms, which can be activated for a variety of events and meeting needs, ranging from 350 to 1,100-square-feet and accommodating up to 150 guests. It’s also home to gardens, a recreational area and a grove. They have a variety of packages to choose from and you can also tailor make your event with their team. It’s a lovely setting for picturesque indoor and outdoor meetings and events.

Deering Estate

Located in South Dade, Deering Estate is a world away from bustling city life on 450 acres overlooking Biscayne Bay with a nature trail and available water sports. It’s a historic and archaeological preserve on the National Register of Historic Places and connects modern day Miami with its pre-historic roots. There are fossils that date back 50,000 years and Charles Deering built his estate here in 1913, acquiring the land that was initially developed in 1890. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Charles’ brother James Deering built Vizcaya.

Today, the grounds include the Grand Stone House and the Richmond Cottage. It’s an ideal venue for everything from corporate events to weddings and special occasions. Depending on how your group activates the grounds, they can typically accommodate up to 150 people, but the possibility exists for more. Rental of the grounds includes use of the grand lawn, courtyard, royal palm grove, tea house and mango groves. You can also add the Grand Stone House to your event, ideal for a cocktail reception that can accommodate 150 people.

Biltmore Hotel

The Biltmore dates back to the 1920s and was part of George Merrick’s master plan creating Coral Gables, known as "The City Beautiful." Influenced by Italian, Moorish and Spanish architecture, it’s a stately Mediterranean Revival hotel and one of the most breathtaking sights in Miami. Today, it’s a National Historic Landmark and a 273-room resort spreading across 150 acres of beautiful landscaping that includes a golf course, tennis courts and a 600,000-gallon swimming pool. It was once frequented by the likes of Babe Ruth, Judy Garland, Ginger Rogers, Al Capone and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Today, it’s still frequented by celebrities and tastemakers.

The sprawling resort is designed to accommodate a wide range of meetings and events with 75,000 square-feet of indoor and outdoor flexible event space between the main building and a separate conference center. These spaces include three ballrooms surrounded by terraces, breakout rooms, two state-of-the-art amphitheaters and executive boardrooms. Flexible meeting and event spaces can be arranged in a wide variety of floor plans, including classroom, u-shape, theater and receptions accommodating anywhere from 10 to over 1,000 guests depending on the space and your party’s needs.
