The UM-NSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) is hosting a professional development event, Celebrating Differences in Our Classrooms: Understanding Neurodiversity from a Strengths Based Approach on Wednesday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Watsco Center at the University of Miami.
This informative session is designed to equip educators, administrators, psychologists and other professionals with the knowledge and tools to better understand and support neurodiverse students in the classroom. Through a strengths-based approach, the training will explore social and executive function learning styles, effective communication strategies for families and caregivers and evidence-based practices for promoting positive learning outcomes.
Key takeaways for participants will include:
- Identifying social and executive learning styles of neurodiverse learners, including those with ASD.
- Strategies to support social, emotional and mental health development.
