Chamber Music: Cage, Ligeti and Ortiz
This event has passed.
Enjoy an evening of visionary new music paired with mixology during the Friday, October 27 installment of NWS's Chamber Music series. Expand your musical horizons with NWS Percussion Fellows as they perform works by some of the most imaginative composers of the last century.
Sip on a themed cocktail or mocktail while you listen to Liquid Borders, a utopian reflection on Mexico by one of its leading composers Gabriela Ortiz. The program also includes:
- First Construction (In Metal) - John Cage's innovative use of unusual percussion instruments to create a metallic soundscape
- With Pipes, Drums, Fiddles - György Ligeti’s final work inspired by the prose of surrealist poet Sándor Weöres, featuring Hungarian mezzo-soprano Katalin Károlyi on vocals.
- Hammers - Allison Loggins-Hull's feverish mix of solo flute and percussion
