Miami-Dade County's LGBTQIA+ Advisory Board is kicking off LGBTQ History Month with the opening of the traveling exhibit Days Without Sunshine: Anita Bryant’s Anti-Gay Crusade on Thursday, September 28 at the Stephen P. Clark Center. Curated by the Stonewall Museum, Archives, and Library collection, Days Without Sunshine delves into Anita Bryant’s influential "Save Our Children" Campaign, which successfully led to the repeal of a 1977 Miami-Dade County Ordinance. The exhibit will be on display in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Center through October 31.
During LGBTQ History Month, the accomplishments of gay and civil rights leaders will be honored, alongside acknowledging the historical and present achievements of LGBTQIA+ individuals who serve as exemplars, community builders, facilitators of informed discussions, and advocates for visibility and awareness.
