Dead Man's Wire ft. Awards Chatter with Gus Van Sant
Nov 03, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
A gripping true-crime story and a special live conversation with one of cinema’s most celebrated directors come together for an unforgettable evening at the Bill Cosford Cinema.
Part of the Miami Film Festival GEMS 2025 lineup, the screening of Dead Man’s Wire recounts the shocking 1977 hostage crisis that unfolded in Indianapolis when Tony Kiritsis held mortgage executive Richard Hall at gunpoint, wiring the trigger to his victim’s head. What followed was a live-televised, three-day standoff that captured global attention and exposed deep tensions around justice, media and morality in America.
Following the screening, acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Elephant) will receive the Festival’s Precious Gem Award and join Scott Feinberg, Executive Editor of The Hollywood Reporter, for a live taping of the Awards Chatter podcast. The discussion will explore Van Sant’s boundary-pushing career and his enduring impact on contemporary cinema.
The event takes place Monday, November 3.
