Ecological Restoration: South Pointe Park
This event has passed.
Lend a hand to restore South Pointe Park's natural beauty. Join the Institute for Regional Conservation (IRC) and Miami Beach Rising Above for a rewarding volunteer opportunity on Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This ecological restoration day focuses on revitalizing the vital beach dune ecosystem at South Pointe Park. Volunteers will work together to plant a diverse array of native plant species, enhancing the park's biodiversity and fostering a healthier environment.
No prior experience is necessary. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to habitat restoration, the IRC welcomes all skill levels. During the event, participants will receive guidance on planting techniques and gain insights into the importance of native plants in coastal ecosystems.
The designated meeting point is at the end of the pier/board walk underneath the shade, where you will find an IRC sign on the table. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Volunteers are encouraged to bring sun protection, reusable water bottle, snacks, hat and sunscreen.
To secure your spot and for any questions, please RSVP beforehand or contact the IRC coordinator at ldutra@regionalconservation.org. A confirmation email with additional details will be sent to registered participants the day before the event.
