FIU Wind Quintet: An Afternoon of French Chamber Music
This event has passed.
French chamber works come to life in a curated program that spans traditional compositions and contemporary arrangements. The FIU Wind Quintet presents An Afternoon of French Chamber Music on Tuesday, April 15, at the FIU Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
Under the direction of Winds Area Coordinator Omar Lateef, this performance brings together faculty guest artist Dr. James Drayton and student musicians including Michael Cooley, Christopher Zabala, Javier Aragon, Albert Acosta, Ana Camarero and Marijó Castillo.
The evening's repertoire features Jacques Ibert's Three Short Pieces alongside Paul Taffanel's lyrical Wind Quintet in G minor and Adrien Barthe's elegant Passacaille. Adding contemporary dimensions to the program are selections from Fontaine (Hoyo-Mix), a video game arrangement by student performer Michael Cooley and A Haitian Tale by Lina Mathon Blanchet, showcasing the voice of an underrepresented Haitian female composer.
