Freedom To Protest
This event has passed.
Freedom to Protest is a culmination of Community Justice Project’s 2022-2023 artist residency rooted in the fight against Florida's unconstitutional anti-protest law that targets Black-led protests.
Maya Shae will exhibit her visual art series “Protest Prints” inspired by the long-history of Black-led protests in Florida. Shae is a Tallahassee-based visual artist and arts educator who uses juxtaposition as a visual and conceptual tool to explore the African-American millennial experience through figuration.
And in S:W:S ² (From Silence to Whispers to Screams + Shouts!) Miriam King takes the audience on an exploration of the power of the human voice in an immersive performance art piece. King, a Miami native is an artist, educator and community advocate.
Lobby doors open at 5:30 p.m. The visual arts presentation begins at 6:00 PM with a light reception.
