Geographies of Trash Walking Tour with Ahol Sniffs Glue
This event has passed.
Explore Miami Beach streets with artist Ahol Sniffs Glue (David Anasagasti) to see ordinary trash transformed into collectible works of art by Ahol himself on Saturday, September 2. This free event is an activation of Ahol's Geographies of Trash project with FIU Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator. The activation kicks off with a panel discussion followed by a walking tour led by the artist.
In his project Geographies of Trash, Ahol transforms discarded objects from Miami’s cityscape into coveted works of art. He tags the found pieces of "garbage" with his signature sleepy eye stamp and photographs it to post on Instagram. Once posted, he leaves the art piece for someone to find and claim.
Cuban-American artist Ahol Sniffs Glue hails from Hialeah, Florida. His raw yet instantly recognizable street murals evaporate the divide between high and low art. Ahol often draws inspiration from the urban environment and systems of society which dehumanize its inhabitants. He is best known for his signature drowsy eyes, reflecting his unique vision of life, labor, and unrequited love of the mean streets of Miami.
