In-Person: An Evening with Jennifer Cearns
This event has passed.
Join Books & Books for an in-person author talk with anthropologist and UX researcher Jennifer Cearns on Friday, October 20 as she discusses her recently published book Circulating Culture: Transnational Cuban Networks of Exchange (New World Diasporas). Cearns' book will be available for purchase at the event.
Tracing the flows of people, material items, and digital content between Havana and Miami, as well as between Cuba and Panama, Guyana, and Mexico, Circulating Culture explores how and why these circuits are a part of everyday life for millions of Cubans who negotiate extraordinary circumstances daily. This book is a volume in the New World Diasporas series.
Cearns' has conducted ethnographic research in Brazil, Cuba, the U.S., Guyana, Panama, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K. Her first book, Circulating Culture, is published by the University of Florida Press.
