Michaela DePrince Day: Ballet in the Gardens

Enjoy an afternoon of dance, music and community honoring the life and legacy of Michaela DePrince, the trailblazing ballerina who rose from war orphan in Sierra Leone to international acclaim. On Saturday, July 12, the City of Miami Gardens presents Michaela DePrince Day: Ballet in the Gardens at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex.

The event celebrates DePrince’s impact on the world of ballet and her inspirational journey, which included performances with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Dutch National Ballet and Boston Ballet. DePrince was also known for her advocacy work with War Child and her efforts to expand access to the arts for young dancers of color.
