Opening Reception of Journey to Nature’s Underworld
This event has passed.
Art and environmental consciousness converge in an evening showcasing two pioneering artists who have shaped contemporary ecological discourse through their work. The Opening Reception of Mark Dion and Alexis Rockman: Journey to Nature's Underworld takes place at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, on Thursday, February 13.
This traveling exhibition brings together approximately thirty sculptures and paintings by Dion and Rockman, representing three decades of their artistic exploration. Their work examines humanity's complex relationship with the natural world, offering critical perspectives on how society's prevailing ideologies have influenced our understanding of nature.
As early voices in environmental art, both artists demonstrated foresight in addressing the ecological challenges that would come to define our century. Their pieces serve as both artistic expression and commentary on pressing environmental issues, creating a dialogue about conservation and human impact on the natural world.
