Embark on an epic, musical journey and cultural celebration with the return of Miami New Drama's Papá Cuatro. The multi-award winning musical tells the story of a generation of Venezuelan musicians who were forced to leave their country in hopes of a better future, taking with them centuries of traditions and the joyous sound of an iconic Latin American string instrument: El Cuatro. This Miami New Drama production features world-class international artists sharing their real-life stories with you in a setting that exists somewhere between a musical, a documentary, and a house party.
Papá Cuatro was conceived by Venezuelan-Canadian director Juan Souki (Miami New Drama’s Viva la Parranda) with original music by singer-songwriter, Mariaca Semprún (Piaff, La Lupe, Latin Grammy 2020); cuatro player, Miguel Siso (Latin Grammy 2018); harpist, Eduardo Betancourt (Latin Grammy 2010); bandola player, Mafer Bandola (LADAMA); and drummer, Adolfo Herrera.
The play runs from Thursday, July 6 through Sunday, July 30 with showings Thursday through Sunday.
