Eureka Day
May 15, 2026 - Jun 14, 2026
weekly on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
A health crisis at a progressive California elementary school turns a well-meaning parent board into a battleground of conflicting values, groupthink and awkward consensus-building. Set in the heart of Berkeley, this sharp comedy unpacks the tension between personal freedom and public health through the lens of satire and school politics.
Eureka Day, running May 15 through June 14, 2026, at GableStage at the Biltmore, closes out the company’s 27th season with the regional premiere of Jonathan Spector’s acclaimed play. The story follows the board of directors at Eureka Day School as they navigate an outbreak of the mumps—testing their commitment to inclusivity and consensus as they confront one of the most polarizing topics of the decade: vaccines. What begins as a well-intentioned meeting spirals into chaos, exposing the limits of progressive ideals in the face of real-world consequences.
Directed by Zoetic Stage Artistic Director Stuart Meltzer, the production brings together biting humor and timely commentary in a setting where gluten-free snacks and groupthink collide. Single tickets go on sale August 26.
