This event has passed.
Harness the power of rain. Learn how to conserve water and nurture your garden with a free Rain Barrel / Water Conservation Workshop at the Deering Estate on Sunday, August 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Led by the UF IFAS Miami Dade Urban Horticulture Program, this informative workshop explores the benefits of rain barrels for collecting rainwater to irrigate your landscape. Discover how to use this free, natural resource for your orchids, potted plants and new plantings, reducing your reliance on the Biscayne Aquifer during dry seasons. This workshop aligns with Florida-Friendly Landscaping practices, promoting sustainable water management for a healthy environment.
Following the educational program, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a refurbished rain barrel for $100 (plus tax). Miami-Dade County's Rain Barrel Rebate Program offers a $50 rebate on rain barrel purchases.
