This event has passed.
The Rhizome: 2024 BFA in Digital Arts/Design Exhibition at the Doral Contemporary Art Museum Pop-Up Space at CityPlace Doral offers an in-depth look at emerging voices in digital arts and design. Running from Friday, November 15, through Wednesday, November 20, this showcase presents the creative work of Fall 2024 graduates from Florida International University’s Department of Art and Art History. Curated by Silvia Pease and Ozan Atalan, the exhibition draws on the concept of rhizomes - complex, interconnected systems - to explore contemporary design through the lens of diversity, plurality and non-hierarchical frameworks, inspired by philosophers Deleuze and Guattari.
The exhibition features a broad spectrum of graphic design practices, blending traditional methods with forward-thinking techniques. Highlights include illustrations and typography addressing themes such as social equity, ecological consciousness, personal identity, critiques of consumerism and the evolving role of artificial intelligence. The works span from conventional design formats to sculptural installations, inviting viewers to engage with diverse media and fresh perspectives.
An opening reception will take place on Friday, November 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., allowing attendees to meet the artists and explore the variety of thought-provoking pieces in this dynamic exhibition.
