Jun 07, 2025
Take a guided walk through one of Miami’s most scenic areas, where the vibrant blooms of Royal Poinciana trees line the streets of Simpson Park and historic South Miami Avenue. This free event, part of the annual Royal Poinciana Festival, offers an opportunity to explore the beauty and history of these iconic trees with expert guidance.
The tour will begin at Dade Heritage Trust on Saturday, June 7, and will be led by members of the Dade Heritage Trust and the Tropical Flowering Tree Society. Steve Pearson, former director of the University of Miami's Gifford Arboretum and past president of the Tropical Flowering Tree Society, will provide insights into the Royal Poinciana’s significance in South Florida.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle for the stroll.
