Hailing from Ohio, Jones began his musical journey as a vocalist in his church choir before transitioning to the trumpet at the age of 10. He's known for his adaptability across musical genres and settings, excelling as both a bandleader and an ensemble member.
Jones' impressive career includes a stint with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, where he was offered a permanent position as lead trumpeter by Wynton Marsalis. Following that, he became a member of the SFJAZZ Collective, during which he formed an ensemble of talented musicians that have produced and released eight recordings on the Mack Avenue Records.
