Delve into the intersection of sports, gender and the body at the Lowe Art Museum's exhibition She's a Knockout: Sport, Gender, and the Body in Contemporary Art. Running from June 21 to September 14, this exhibit showcases works by eleven international contemporary artists.
Through athletic imagery, the artists explore themes of resilience, strength, labor and women's rights. The exhibition challenges traditional notions of femininity with a variety of approaches, ranging from celebratory to critical, and even humorous.
She's a Knockout features the works of Bianca Argimón, Libby Black, Zoë Buckman, Monica Kim Garza, Riikka Hyvonen, Sophie Kirchner, Eddie Lanieri, Hazel Meyer, Fay Sanders, Sheena Rose and Kawita Vatanajyankur. Curated by Caitlin Swindell, Chief Curator at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, this exhibition presents an exploration of gender, identity and the power of the human body in the athletic arena.
