Jazz, culture and history converge in a musical tribute honoring Haitian Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines at Black Box Media.
Sounds of Freedom features performances by internationally acclaimed Haitian American trumpeter and composer Jean Caze, soulful vocalist LaVie and Konpa singer turned jazz artist Beby Joe. Together, they blend jazz, soul and Haitian rhythms in a program that celebrates heritage, artistry and the enduring spirit of independence.
Caze, known for his expressive trumpet style and collaborations with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Arturo Sandoval and Michael Bublé, will perform selections including his latest single “Issa,” dedicated to Dessalines. LaVie brings her powerful vocals and message of empowerment to the stage, while Beby Joe lends his smooth tone and jazz interpretations to beloved classics.
Sounds of Freedom takes place Saturday, October 25 at Black Box Media in North Miami.
