Live music, street processions and cultural performances take over Little Haiti for a full day of Caribbean celebration featuring artists and traditions from across the region. From high-energy stage acts to community-based dance and drumming ensembles, this event highlights the vibrancy and diversity of the Caribbean diaspora in South Florida.
Taking place Sunday, June 8, Taste of Karnival unfolds at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex and along NE 2nd Avenue between NE 54th and NE 62nd Streets. Presented in recognition of Caribbean Heritage Month, the event includes performances by Amara La Negra, Haitian mizik rasin group RAM, DJ Tony Mix and the street band Rara Lakay. Additional cultural showcases feature the Bahamian Junkanoo Troupe, the Colombian Cultural Group, and Brazilian percussion ensemble Bateria Unidos de Miami.
This free, outdoor festival is designed to bring together the many voices and traditions of the Caribbean through music, dance, food and art. Organized by Miami Marketing Strategies, Inc. in partnership with City of Miami Chairwoman Christine King, the event offers a snapshot of the region’s influence on Miami’s cultural landscape.
