Connect, reflect and create through poetry and flower arrangement during a thoughtful workshop designed especially for caregivers and loved ones of individuals with dementia and terminal illnesses. The Holy Office of Poetic Memory will be held on Sunday, April 13, at The Light Box Studio at Miami Theater Center, as part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival.
Guided by the traditional Japanese practice of Ikebana, participants will arrange flowers symbolizing Heaven, Self and Earth, and then compose poems structured around these themes. Each attendee will take home their unique floral creation along with a personalized poetic tribute honoring their loved one.
The workshop offers a contemplative space for caregivers to process their experiences through both visual and written expression. Due to the nature of Ikebana practice, seats are limited to ensure each participant receives proper guidance.
