If you missed Teatro Avante’s premiere of Ubú Pandemia during last year’s International Hispanic Theatre Festival, now’s your chance to see it performed live on stage at the Miami Dade County Auditorium. Performed in Spanish, the play tells the story of King Ubú and the unprecedented social crisis on his mythical island of Uba, where locals have rebelled in response to widespread poverty. The plot thickens with a pandemic that has spread throughout the world and threatens the island. Erroneously convinced that his island is immune, Ubú takes action to vanquish poverty not realizing the consequences of his actions. This not-to-be-missed production, written by Abel González Melo and directed by Mario Ernesto Sánchez, runs Thursday February 3rd through Sunday February 6th.
