A Night with Sylvester

Celebrate the start of LGBT+ History Month with a film-and-performance evening centered on Sylvester, the “Queen of Disco,” featuring two short documentaries and a drag set by Tiffany Fantasia.

A Night with Sylvester, presented by Miami Shores Pride, takes place Saturday, September 27 in Miami Shores. The program pairs screenings about the groundbreaking singer, known for “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real),” “Dance (Disco Heat)” and “Do You Wanna Funk,” with a live performance by Tiffany Fantasia, often billed as “The Mouth of the South” and “Andy Cohen’s favorite drag queen.” An open bar is provided by Helix Vodka and DD Hospitality & Events.

Admission is free with a $20 donation; capacity is limited and the event address will be emailed to confirmed attendees. As context, Sylvester’s gender-bending stage presence and open discussion of queerness made him a defining figure of 1970s and 80s disco, and Rolling Stone ranked him 169th on its list of the Greatest Singers of All Time.
