An Evening with Lev Parnas, Billy Corben and Grant Stern
This event has passed.
Join Books & Books on Monday, November 4, for an evening with Lev Parnas, author of Shadow Diplomacy: Lev Parnas’s Wild Ride From Brooklyn to Donald Trump’s Inner Circle. In his revealing memoir, Parnas recounts how he once believed he was on a noble mission alongside Rudy Giuliani, working to support then-President Trump’s interests in Ukraine. Yet what started as a commitment to fighting corruption quickly spiraled into an alleged scheme to pressure Ukrainian officials for damaging information on then-presidential candidate Joe Biden. The scandal eventually led to Trump’s first impeachment, and Parnas found himself at the center, unexpectedly entwined with Russian agents and key figures in Ukraine.
Parnas’s account exposes the extent to which he believes Trump’s administration leveraged power to undermine opponents and then sought to make him a scapegoat for campaign finance violations and election fraud. Shadow Diplomacy goes beyond surface-level revelations, offering insight into a network of Russian agents and power brokers who, according to Parnas, counted on Trump’s return to the White House to protect their interests.
Parnas will be joined in conversation by documentary filmmaker Billy Corben, known for Cocaine Cowboys and ESPN's 30 for 30: The U, and the discussion will be moderated by investigative journalist Grant Stern, Executive Director of Occupy Democrats. Corben, who directed From Russia with Lev, a documentary about Parnas, brings a unique lens to the discussion, while Stern offers insight from his extensive background in media and investigative reporting.
This event is free, with copies of Shadow Diplomacy available for purchase.
