From: 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM
A daylong symposium at The Wolfsonian-FIU spotlights the history, preservation, and future of Art Deco, linking Miami Beach’s celebrated architecture with Mumbai’s rich Deco heritage.
The Art Deco Alive! Symposium takes place Saturday, October 11, featuring a series of panel discussions with architects, preservationists, developers and cultural leaders. Sessions include an exploration of Deco’s beginnings in Miami and Mumbai with Navin Ramani, Rahul Mehrotra and George Neary; a conversation on the 1990s revival that fueled Miami’s creative economy with Craig Robbins and Jane Wooldridge; and a forward-looking panel on preservation and cultural identity with Andres Viglucci, Allan Shulman, Commissioner Tanya Bhatt and Meg Daly.
Presented in collaboration with The Wolfsonian-FIU, the symposium examines how Art Deco continues to shape cultural narratives while inspiring new approaches to urban life and design.
