Art House Theater Day: Tangerine

A bold, unfiltered ride through the streets of Los Angeles returns to the big screen as Coral Gables Art Cinema marks Art House Theater Day with a special 10th anniversary screening of Tangerine.

Held on Thursday, July 24, this one-night event features an exclusive pre-recorded Q&A with Academy Award®–winning director Sean Baker following the film. Shot entirely on three iPhone 5S cameras, Tangerine premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and earned critical acclaim for its raw storytelling and standout performances. Set on Christmas Eve, the film follows Sin-Dee and Alexandra—two transgender sex workers—as they crisscross Tinseltown in search of the truth behind a betrayal, encountering a cross-section of the city’s subcultures along the way.

Presented as part of the national Art House Theater Day celebration, this screening highlights the impact of independent cinemas in championing daring, visionary storytelling.
