Beach Activation: Youth Swim Instruction

Children can build comfort and safety in the ocean during a free swim instruction session at 81st Street Beach on Miami Beach. Presented by Blue Scholars Initiative as part of the World Ocean Celebration lineup, the Youth Swim Instruction takes place Saturday, June 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. The session is designed for school-age children and introduces young swimmers to open-water awareness in calm, shallow conditions.

Breathe & Splash Swim School will lead the instruction, helping children become safer, more confident and more responsible in and around the water. Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Each participating child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and a completed release of liability form is required.

Families are encouraged to bring goggles, sun protection, reef-safe sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. The activity is weather dependent and may be canceled if conditions are not suitable. Nearby parking is available in municipal lots at 80th, 81st and 83rd streets along Collins Avenue, with additional metered street parking and access via the Miami Beach Trolley’s North Beach Loop.
