An evening at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park honors the legacy of journalist and editor Bill Baggs with conversation on the future of local news and democracy.
The Bill Baggs Birthday Bash takes place Tuesday, September 30 at the historic Lighthouse Compound Keeper’s Cottage. The program begins with refreshments and views of the recently restored Cape Florida Lighthouse, followed by a HoloPod presentation that brings Baggs’s story to life. A panel discussion titled What Would Bill Baggs Do? explores the role of journalism in protecting democracy, drawing inspiration from Baggs’s career and the national Press Forward initiative.
The event is free with park entry, though advance registration is required for the guest list.
