Join the Deering Estate for the Saturday, October 28 installment of The Black Artist Talk, a program that presents engaging conversations with Black artists to discuss current events, the arts, dance making, pedagogy, social justice, his/hers-tory, futurism, and the here and now. Artist-in-Residence and founder of The Black Artist Talk, Michelle Grant-Murray will be hosting the event. The talk will be held at the Deering Estate Visitor Center Theater.
This upcoming installment of The Black Artist Talk features a woman-centered guided discussion and practice that integrates transformative healing practices of Kemet, the Caribbean, and West Africa. In this two-hour program, participants will create affirmations, move, breathe, engage in discussion, and rest on a path to restorative healing and liberated joy. The panelists, led by host Michelle Grant-Murray, include Dr. Carolyn Edwards, Shanna L. Woods, Dr. Alison Davis and Dr. Linda Washington-Brown.
Michelle Grant-Murray is an independent choreographer, performer and Artistic Director of Olujimi Dance Theatre. Her work has been performed and published in Europe, Asia, South America, the United States and the Caribbean. She is currently on her 2nd term as an Artist in Residence at the historic Deering Estate.
