Bookmaking Workshop: Stories of Miami
Jun 21, 2025 - Jun 22, 2025
From: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Explore personal and collective connections to Miami through hands-on bookmaking activities guided by artists Nicole Combeau and Sean Sullivan. Bookmaking Workshop: Stories of Miami takes place Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 at the Vizcaya Village Garage as part of the Binding Histories series.
Participants will learn bookbinding techniques such as pamphlet stitching and double-sided book structures while using collage, rubber stamps and photo transfers to craft works centered on Miami’s past and present. Materials are provided, and the workshop is free with advance registration. All registrants will be asked to confirm participation via email the week of the event to retain their spot.
Combeau is a Miami-based artist and educator whose interdisciplinary work focuses on memory, cultural preservation and community collaboration. Sullivan, also known as Sean Was Here, is a creative technology artist specializing in immersive 3D projection mapping installations that connect audiences with digital art in shared physical spaces.
Binding Histories is part of Studio Vizcaya, an annual summer program that invites local artists to collaborate with the community on original, site-inspired works. The series continues over three additional weekends and concludes with a public animated installation on July 26, at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
