Botanical Alchemy: Crafting Pickles with Plants and Memory

Explore the art of fermentation in a hands-on workshop at Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Botanical Alchemy: Crafting Pickles with Plants and Memory takes place Saturday, July 26 and is open to participants ages 16 and up.

This one-hour session introduces the basics of lacto-fermentation using seasonal produce and traditional techniques. As participants chop, salt and mix, the workshop also invites reflection on how food preservation connects to memory, place and culture. Attendees are asked to bring a sharp knife and cutting board and will leave with their own jar of kraut or pickled vegetables. Materials are provided; space is limited.
