Can't Stop Change Film Screening & Celebration
Jun 06, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
A documentary exploring climate change through LGBTQ voices in Florida comes to Miami for a free screening and community discussion. Can't Stop Change presents interviews with 15 LGBTQ2S+ artists, educators and organizers across the state, examining connections between environmental challenges like stronger storms and rising seas alongside escalating state violence against queer and trans communities.
The event takes place Friday, June 6 at First United Methodist Church of Miami. Programming begins with socializing and networking opportunities starting at 6 p.m., followed by the film screening at 6:45 p.m. The documentary will be shown with English and Spanish subtitles to accommodate diverse audiences.
Following the screening, co-directors Natalia Villarán-Quiñones and Yarrow Koning will participate in a kitchen table-style conversation with Miami-based film collaborators, offering attendees direct access to the filmmakers. The evening concludes with a terrace afterparty from 9:15 to 10:30 p.m. Queers for Climate Justice presents the event in partnership with First Church Miami, Miami Freedom Project, PRISM Florida, Freedom Lab Miami and Del Ambiente. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
