Durango Fest
Aug 31, 2025
Starting: 2:00 PM
Latin regional music takes center stage in Homestead during Durango Fest, a touring celebration of Duranguense culture. On Sunday, August 31, Harris Field Park & Rodeo Arena in Homestead hosts this stop on a nationwide festival featuring top artists like Montez de Durango, Los Príncipes Alacranes Musical, K-Paz de la Sierra, Patrulla 81 and Conjunto Atardecer, known for their high-energy performances of rancheras, cumbias, corridos and ballads.
Originating in Chicago in the late 1990s among Mexican-American communities, Duranguense blends traditional brass band instrumentation with keyboards, saxophones, and driving percussion. The style, named for Mexico’s Durango state, rose to international popularity in the 2000s, recognized for its upbeat tempos, syncopated rhythms and dance-floor appeal.
With the festival beginning at 2 p.m., it offers a lively afternoon of music and culture for all ages. In addition to the music, attendees can expect food vendors serving regional dishes, local artisan booths and a family-oriented atmosphere that welcomes fans across generations. Children under 10 are admitted free, and attendees aged 21 and over can purchase beverages onsite.
