Catch acclaimed French singer-songwriter Francis Cabrel live at the Arsht Center on Saturday, June 8. The Arsht Center welcomes the French music legend to its stage as part of the Live at Knight concert series.
Cabrel, known for his sophisticated and poetic style, has sold over 25 million records throughout his career. Inspired by folk artists like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, Cabrel began composing songs at a young age. His big break came in 1974 when his song "Petite Marie" won a radio talent contest, leading to a record deal and the release of his debut album in 1977.
Over the next few decades, Cabrel released numerous successful albums, with hits like "Je l'aime à mourir," "La Dame de Haute-Savoie," and "La corrida." He is known for his social consciousness, composing the song "Il faudra leur dire" for an association fighting leukemia, later covered by Ray Charles. A cornerstone of French music, Cabrel remains true to his artistic vision.
