Gulf Stream x Honest Liars Fundraiser & Open Mic Night

A collaborative literary evening unites established voices with emerging talent to celebrate the revival of a cherished Florida publication. Gulf Stream x Honest Liars Fundraiser & Open Mic Night takes place Friday, May 30 at Books & Books.

The event marks an important milestone for Gulf Stream Magazine, which has returned to print for its 35th anniversary issue after 17 years as an online-only publication. Current and archived issues will be available for purchase, with proceeds directly supporting the continued print publication of future editions, beginning with Issue 37.

Florida International University's MFA program takes center stage through its Honest Liars open mic reading series, creating an interactive experience for attendees. Current students, alumni, editors and friends of the magazine will share their work, while audience members are invited to participate by reading their own writing.

Presented by Books & Books and The Books & Books Literary Foundation, this fundraiser acknowledges the community support that made the anniversary issue possible and seeks to sustain South Florida's literary landscape. The foundation itself was among the contributors that helped bring the special "First Words" edition to print.

This free event offers literature enthusiasts an opportunity to not only support a significant regional publication financially but also to become active participants in the creative community that sustains it.
