History of Art: Dadaism, Surrealism and Action Art

A Spanish-language lecture examines how Dadaism, Surrealism and Action Art challenged conventional ideas of art, objects and performance at the Doral Cultural Arts Center. Taking place Tuesday, November 10, the program is part of the City of Doral’s recurring History of Art series, with each installment focusing on different movements and periods.

Led by William Alonso, the session considers Dadaism, Surrealism, the Surrealist Object and Action Art through artists including Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Meret Oppenheim and Joseph Beuys. The discussion explores how these artists expanded the boundaries of modern art by rethinking everyday objects, representation, chance and live artistic action.

The lecture is presented entirely in Spanish and is open to all ages.
