Jazz at MOCA
Jul 31, 2026 - Apr 30, 2027
monthly on the last Friday
Seating starts at 7:00 PM | Concert: 8:00 PM
A longstanding monthly outdoor concert series brings live jazz to MOCA Plaza, with the July installment featuring flutist, vocalist and composer Magela Herrera. Jazz at MOCA takes place Friday, July 31 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, continuing a free public program presented on the last Friday of each month since 1999. The evening includes open-air music on the plaza and access to the museum’s galleries until 10 p.m.
Herrera’s musical approach draws on her family’s Afro-Cuban traditions and classical training at Havana’s Conservatory of Music and Instituto Superior de Arte. Her work bridges Latin jazz, European jazz and improvisation, shaped in part by her years with Cuban jazz-fusion ensemble Mezcla from 2004 to 2011.
Seating begins at 7 p.m., with the concert running from 8 to 10 p.m. Admission is free, and registration includes gallery access during the evening. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and guests may bring their own chairs. The concert may be canceled if rain or severe weather continues through 8 p.m.
