Juneteenth Mural Unveiling
Jun 19, 2025
From: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Art, music and history converge in Wynwood for a Juneteenth celebration honoring freedom and creative expression through street art.
The Juneteenth Mural Unveiling takes place Thursday, June 19 at The Art of Hip Hop, located in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. The event features the debut of a new mural at the corner of NW 25th St. and NW 3rd Ave., created by local artists 1DER and his mentor Mwanel “1-L” Pierre-Louis. Their collaborative work offers a vivid interpretation of liberation through the lens of music, a theme rooted in resistance and cultural resilience.
To mark the unveiling, the Museum will host an artist talk at 5:00 p.m., led by curator and co-founder Alan Ket, providing insight into the creative process and the cultural influences behind the piece. The evening concludes with a reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at nearby restaurant KYU, featuring exclusive drink specials in celebration of the occasion.
This public art event is part of the Museum of Graffiti’s ongoing initiative to amplify diverse voices and stories through the language of graffiti and street art.
