May 30, 2025
Starting: Noon
Through collaborative theater and firsthand testimony, this documentary confronts a rarely acknowledged chapter of Caribbean history—the 1937 massacre of Haitian immigrants in the Dominican Republic. Led by Haitian theater director Daphné Ménard, the film follows actors from both sides of the island as they engage in a creative process aimed at uncovering generational trauma and fostering dialogue across historical divides.
L’oubli Tue Deux Fois (Twice Into Oblivion) screens Friday, May 30 at the Koubek Center as part of the Third Horizon Film Festival. Directed by Haitian filmmaker and photographer Pierre Michel Jean, the documentary is presented in Kreyòl and Spanish with English subtitles. A Q&A with the director will follow the screening.
