May at CAMP: Opening Reception
May 23, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Art enthusiasts are invited to explore themes of identity, history and cultural memory through the works of three contemporary artists whose practices reflect personal and inherited experiences. Featuring a variety of media—including painting, mixed media, textiles and figurative work—the exhibition highlights how visual storytelling can function as both documentation and dialogue.
The opening reception for May at CAMP: Postcards From the Artist takes place on Friday, May 23, at The Contemporary Art Modern Project (CAMP) Gallery in North Miami. This group exhibition presents new work by Milton Bowens, Laetitia Adam-Rabel and Oluwatomisin Olabode—three artists whose practices focus on cultural expression and introspective inquiry.
Milton Bowens, an Oakland-born artist who works under the name Milton 510, incorporates archival materials and historical references to examine the legacy of the African American experience. His layered, text-rich compositions often focus on education, cultural pride and the visual language of protest.
Laetitia Adam-Rabel, a Haitian-American artist based in Miami, blends painting, textiles, photography and sound to address themes such as Blackness, motherhood, climate justice and feminism. Her multidisciplinary practice expresses both personal emotion and a broader call for inclusion and social change.
Oluwatomisin Olabode, a Lagos-based painter, is known for his stylized portraiture that challenges viewers to question surface perceptions and cultural narratives. His emotionally resonant works engage deeply with Black identity, history and the sociopolitical forces shaping contemporary life.
Together, their work forms a powerful collective narrative of memory, resistance and self-expression. The exhibition is on view through June 27. For more information, contact hello@thecampgallery.com.
