MIAMI short FILM FESTIVAL: Between Light & Reality
Nov 14, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Newcomers facing their first Canadian winter, students weighing their futures and a dispute over a suburban lawn anchor a program of documentary and experimental shorts. Between Light & Reality screens Saturday, November 14, at Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami as part of the 25th MIAMI short FILM FESTIVAL.
The program includes:
- Land of Cold — Hervé Demers’ Canadian documentary follows immigrants from Sub-Saharan Africa encountering winter in northern Canada.
- UNTER STRAHLEN — German filmmaker Jörn Staeger considers sunlight as both a source of life and a growing danger amid climate change.
- Make Money, Find Meaning, Don’t Panic — Amélie Hardy’s Canadian documentary observes young people discussing ambitions and uncertainties in a guidance counselor’s office.
- La Dichotomie — Directed by Suzie Toot, Dan Ingram and Oscar Ruso, this U.S. experimental film contrasts a tap-dancing star’s spotlight with an art clown’s existential unraveling.
- A Wolf in the Suburbs — Hardy’s second Canadian documentary centers on a Mississauga resident whose wild-growing lawn disrupts the neighborhood’s carefully maintained order.
Films in languages other than English are presented with English subtitles.
Parking at the Met 3 garage costs $8 for up to four hours with cinema validation. Drivers pay the posted garage rate first, then validate at Silverspot to receive a refund of the difference.
