A two-night collaboration brings together bold regional Chinese flavors and refined Japanese omakase in an intimate setting at MILA Omakase.
MILA Omakase x MIMI Chinese takes place September 25–26, led by MIMI Chinese Culinary Director David Schwartz and Executive Chef Braden Chong alongside MILA Omakase’s team. The 12-course tasting menu merges traditions and techniques, pairing the artistry of omakase with the layered intensity of Sichuan, Hunan and Guangdong-inspired dishes. Served in MILA Omakase’s 10-seat enclave, the experience features two nightly seatings at 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. and is priced at $250 per guest.
The collaboration reflects MILA Omakase’s commitment to innovative partnerships, following past appearances by chefs such as Massimo Bottura and Dominique Crenn. For Schwartz and Chong, whose Toronto-based MIMI Chinese recently debuted in Miami Beach, the event is an opportunity to bring their signature storytelling-driven cuisine into dialogue with Japanese precision and seasonality.
Recognized as Miami’s Best Omakase Sushi by Miami New Times in 2024, MILA Omakase blends Japanese tradition with Mediterranean influences under the guidance of Michelin-awarded Chef Michaël Michaelidis and Executive Chef Reiji Yoshizawa.
Founded in Toronto and now expanded to Miami Beach, MIMI Chinese explores regional Chinese cuisine through inventive technique and immersive hospitality. Culinary Director David Schwartz, winner of the 2023 Michelin Guide Toronto Young Chef Award and Executive Chef Braden Chong are known for blending heritage with modern expression.
