MOCA Miami Art Week Public Reception
Dec 01, 2026
Geoffrey Holder’s visual art and Josh Aronson’s photographic sails are the focus of a late-evening reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Taking place Tuesday, December 1, the public gathering marks Miami Art Week with access to the museum’s fall exhibition and Art on the Plaza installation.
Guest curated by Erica Moiah James, Geoffrey Holder: Black Magic brings together more than 60 paintings, drawings, collages and sculptures, many shown publicly for the first time. The survey examines visual art as a foundation of Holder’s creative life, connecting his expressive figures and sweeping gestures with his work in dance, theater and film.
Outside, Miami-based artist Josh Aronson’s A Sudden Leap places two sail masts in the museum’s reflecting pool. Their sails carry photographs of Florida’s natural environment, extending his exploration of landscape, memory and belonging.
The public reception runs from 8:30–10:30 p.m. Admission is $10, with free admission for MOCA members, City of North Miami residents and VIP pass holders from partner art fairs. Qualifying guests should present their membership card, resident identification or VIP pass at the door.
