Music in Motion
Oct 16, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
Contemporary chamber music and dance come together in an interdisciplinary program exploring feminine power, vulnerability and collective strength. The performance takes place Friday, November 6 at New World Center in Miami Beach. Curated by New World Symphony Fellows, the evening features dancers Lauryn Hayes, Isabella Soo-Hoo and Elizabeth Wiehe.
The program pairs new choreography with works by Reena Esmail, Missy Mazzoli, Gabriela Smith, Rhiannon Giddens, Carlos Simon, Caroline Shaw and Karim Al-Zand. Musical selections range from the rhythmic motion of Esmail’s Khirkiyaan and Smith’s Tessellations to Giddens’ historically grounded At the Purchaser’s Option and Al-Zand’s contemporary retelling of Cinderella.
Hayes brings experience spanning Broadway, opera and film, while Soo-Hoo approaches dance through advocacy, storytelling and community connection. Wiehe is the founder of Pearl Street Dance Collective, a female-led ensemble dedicated to creating opportunities for early-career women artists and presenting work rooted in authentic female experience.
