Nostalgia Primitive D'Haiti Deux: Opening Reception
May 10, 2025
Starting: 6:30 PM
An evening gathering at the Haitian Heritage Museum will mark the debut of a new exhibition exploring Haiti’s visual culture and artistic heritage.
The opening reception for Nostalgia Primitive D’Haiti Deux will take place on Saturday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to preview a collection of oil-on-canvas paintings that portray scenes of rural life, markets and landscapes—each capturing aspects of daily experience in Haiti through expressive brushwork and vivid color. Featured artists include Dubinsson, Fritzner, Hector, Obin and Dambreville, whose works reflect both individual perspective and a shared connection to the island’s traditions and rhythms.
Presented in conjunction with Haitian Heritage Month, the exhibition invites reflection on memory, place and cultural continuity. The reception offers a chance to engage with the works in an intimate setting while supporting broader efforts in cultural preservation, including the museum’s Roger L. Farnham Project to restore historical documents.
