Nothing Can Be Done, But Something Can Be Said

From: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Archival footage, veterans’ interviews and wartime poetry trace Miami Beach’s role as a World War II training center and the experiences of those who served. Nothing Can Be Done, But Something Can Be Said screens Saturday, November 7, in B Bar at The Betsy–South Beach in Miami Beach. Two public screenings begin at 7 and 8 p.m., with free admission.
Created by The Betsy in partnership with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, the documentary premiered in 2010. It brings together personal accounts, wartime letters and the writing of soldier-poet Hyam Plutzik to consider military service, family and remembrance. Its title draws from Plutzik’s poem Requiem for Edward Carrigh.
Related outdoor programming includes Letters of Gratitude in Light, which projects community thank-you letters and video tributes honoring veterans onto The Betsy Orb. The installation runs November 7–10 as part of Miami Beach’s America 250 and Veterans Day programming.
