Program III featuring Pop
This event has passed.
Witness a celebration of movement and music as Dance NOW! Miami presents Program III featuring Pop and other contemporary dance works at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Saturday, May 18.
The program's highlight is the world premiere of "Pop," a new work by Artistic Director Diego Salterini. "Pop" is a captivating exploration of life's journey, weaving together themes of love, despair and exhilaration. Through innovative choreography and a soundtrack of iconic 80s and 90s music, the performance explores the complexities of identity and coming-of-age experiences.
A re-staging of "Open Book", by renowned Miami choreographer Daniel Lewis, is also featured in the program. This powerful 1981 work delves into themes of community and mental illness, utilizing Lewis's own poetry as inspiration. Rounding out the evening is a revival of "Tethered," a contemporary ballet piece choreographed by Co-Director Hannah Baumgarten. Originally presented in 2023, "Tethered" features an original score by Davidson Jaconello and Felix Rosch.
