Run for Education: A Juneteenth Fundraiser

Lace up your running shoes and celebrate freedom. The Running Edge and Mino Learning Lab are hosting the 2nd annual Run for Education. This community run fundraiser aims to promote healthy habits through fitness while raising money to support Title I schools and youth organizations.
Held on Saturday, June 15, the event kicks off at the Center for Black Innovation, 937 NW 3rd Ave. Participants will embark on a scenic 5K route through Historic Overtown. The $10,000 fundraising goal will provide vital resources like professional development and classroom supplies to those in need.
Here's what you can expect:
- 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. - Check-in and registration.
- 7:00 - 7:15 a.m. - Warm Up & Stretch: Running Edge 305 will lead you through a dynamic warm-up and stretch to get your body race-ready.
- 7:15 - 7:20 a.m. - Opening remarks to acknowledge the importance of Juneteenth and the Run for Education's mission.
- 7:20 a.m. - Walkers get a 10-minute head start, allowing them to enjoy the scenic route through Overtown at their own pace.
- 7:30 a.m. - Runners take off 10 minutes later to ensure everyone finishes together.
- 8:30 a.m. - After the race, unwind with a relaxing yoga cooldown led by Juny Francois.
- 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Head to the Center for Black Innovation for a celebratory gathering. Enjoy delicious food, local vendors, music and the chance to connect with your fellow runners and walkers.
